Manchester United seem to always be in the headlines for one reason or another – purely because we’re the biggest club in the country and we sell papers. One man embroiled in a media controversy at the moment is Wayne Rooney, and his situation just took another turn.
Today, we learnt that a pair of Liverpool players decided to go out to a strip club on the same night of Rooney’s drunken antics, and although our club captain was absolutely crucified in the media – the same hasn’t happened here.
In fact, the FA have come out and defended the pair as they didn’t do anything wrong – but neither did Wayne Rooney, surely?
Check out Neville’s tweet here:
Oli am I missing something here!! Rooney was forced to apologise… why not the other players. Rooney should be fuming!! Double standards https://t.co/Uzjd7zYWKk

It does seem like a case of preferential treatment which is just not right, and it sends out the completely wrong message. They should all get a slap on the wrists, or none at all because you’d argue what the Liverpool players have done is worse.
As Gary Neville says, Wayne Rooney must be absolutely fuming and rightly so. This is double standards of the highest order.
