Manchester United have made a brilliant start to the Premier League season, picking up three wins in their opening three fixtures so far. Jose Mourinho has his team playing the Red Devils way and it certainly bodes well for the campaign as a whole.
One player who epitomises the United mantra is Marcus Rashford. He’s a homegrown talent who just understands what it takes to succeed at this club. The 19-year-old is currently fighting with Anthony Martial for a starting spot within the team, but he made a huge impact at the weekend by scoring.
Now, Old Trafford legend Ryan Giggs has given his verdict on Rashford. The Welsh Wizard had high praise for the lad from Wythenshawe whilst on the pundit panel as England took on Malta.
Giggsy likened Rashford to none other than Thierry Henry due to his style of play, mostly due to the fact that he can play on the left or as a centre-forward.
‘He can definitely play out wide, but eventually, he’s going to be a No 9,’ Giggs told ITV, as per The Metro.
‘I see similarities with Thierry Henry myself, he’s brilliant off the left.
‘Even if he’s playing centre-forward, he drifts off to the left where you can take players on either side.
‘But then, if he’s not played centre-forward a lot and all of a sudden Kane gets injured and you ask him to play up front, he can do it.
‘Like you say, he’s not going to play centre-forward of United too often with Lukaku, Ibrahimovic as well.’
It’s scary to think that Rashford is still only a teenager. He’s already made such a massive impact on the Premier League and it definitely feels like he’s been around for a while already.
The most important thing for the forward is that he has earned the trust of Mourinho which is no easy task. We could be witnessing the start of yet another simply sensational career for a Manchester United youth academy product.
