Graphic: Manchester United look to be selling Depay, and these stats show why

Manchester United Football Club seems to be closing in on the sale of Memphis Depay. The Dutch winger has struggled in the Premier League during his season-and-a-half here thus far, so-much-so that this season he hasn’t earned a start under Jose Mourinho.

Now Sky Sports have compiled a graphical comparison of his final season in PSV with his debut season at Old Trafford, and it certainly makes for interesting reading…

Have a look at the graphic below:

As you can see, those stats really don’t cover Memphis in glory, and you can see exactly why Jose Mourinho just doesn’t fancy the 22-year-old at all.

In his debut season at Manchester United he actually played in more league games than his final one at PSV, and the fact that he scored a whole twenty goals less at a much worse rate just isn’t good enough.

His style of play has always meant he scores more goals than he lays on for his teammates, but a tally of zero doesn’t help his case at all. Perhaps the biggest disappointment is the fact that he created five times chances less whilst wearing the Red of United, and in my opinion, he desperately needs this move away.
