Manchester United’s players will be putting in some last-minute work ahead of an eagerly anticipated pre-season friendly clash against FC Barcelona. The game takes place in the International Champions Cup, and ahead of the game, we’ve been given a nice little boost.
According to The Express, Juan Mata is now back in training following an ankle injury that he picked up earlier on in the tour. Furthermore, he is already back in contention to take on the Catalan giants in the early hours of Thursday morning (UK time).
The attacking midfielder sustained the injury in the game against Real Salt Lake, and was putting in the work alone, but now, he’s back training with the group and seemingly ready for action.
It’s important that every single one of our squad members get enough pre-season tour minutes ahead of the serious stuff starting next month. Jose Mourinho needs all of his stars to be at 100%, and thankfully, we still have four more games to play (including the UEFA Super Cup) before our Premier League campaign kicks off.
Mata has become an integral part of our squad over the last few years due to his creativity and ability to unlock opposing defences. No doubt, he’ll continue to be a hugely important member of the team this season.
