Well I’ve had that Harry Maguire chant in my head all day today, but what a player Manchester United have acquired.
All good teams are built upon a solid defensive foundation and you can already see the improvements from last season. I highly doubt we’ll be shipping 54 league goals this term, that’s for sure…
From first minute right until last, Maguire was winning pretty much everything. Solid in the air, positionally sound, tough in the tackle and underrated quickness, the 26-year-old put in a top drawer display to deny a talented Chelsea attack.
You can just sense Maguire’s happiness. He wears that shirt with pride. It means just as much to him as it does us fans, and after the game, Slabhead took to Twitter to express his thanks to the supporters – and this is all we ask for.
You go out there and play for the badge, us fans don’t care if we lose 5-0, just give it your all and everything else will fall into place.
Maguire’s already making his mark on that dressing room. He’s a leader, a character and a top personality. This will be arguably our best signing in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, and when you also factor in Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s addition, that defence is looking miles better.
Welcome to Old Trafford, Harry!
