Harry Maguire sends message to fans after being named Man Utd captain

Manchester United Football Club have themselves a new captain; Harry Maguire.

The Red Devils’ £80million man only made the Old Trafford switch just this summer, though it’s pretty easy to see why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed him the armband.

Before his arrival, the lack of leadership in that dressing room was there for all to see. Now, this young United squad have someone they can look up to, someone who’ll guide them through matches from that centre-half position.

For me, it felt like a no-brainer. Maguire is by far and away the best fit and I’m glad that Solskjaer hasn’t been put off due to the fact he’s only been here six months.

Anyway, after being handed the honour, Maguire took to Twitter to classily react as he was named Manchester United captain on a permanent basis. Quality.

Now it’s about taking his game up another notch. I would describe Maguire’s start as steady, though there’s still much more to come from him.

Maguire can now stamp his authority on this team and drag his United forward. I, for one, don’t doubt him and I’m sure he’ll wear that armband with pride every single time he takes to the field. Congratulations, skipper!

It’d be lovely if he could kick things off by scoring his first goal tomorrow, that’s for sure!
