Manchester United absolutely bullied the current Premier League champions Leicester City at the weekend, as Jose Mourinho’s side stuck three past The Foxes. The man of the moment was Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who scored a goal, laid on an assist and won the Man of the Match award.
However, after the game, our Armenian was keen to heap the praise on his fellow teammates, and singled out Juan Mata for particular praise – after the pair linked up wonderfully for the Red Devils’ third strike.
“He’s a world-class player and I knew that if I controlled that ball, he has to open up himself in the space and that’s what happened. I just played it there because I knew that he was going to be there and he scored a nice goal.” Mkhitaryan told MUTV.
Mkhitaryan has really changed our attacking play for the better, and his quality on the ball is simply undeniable. He began life here playing out on the right-hand side, but when Jose moved him into the #10 role at the weekend, he seemed to perform eve better.
As for Juan Mata, our smiling Spaniard just makes us tick, and when he’s playing well, Manchester United tend to win.
For me, both of these guys have to play going forward, and they’ve already shown just how effective they can be if they work together.
