Well, the 1-1 draw away at FC Rostov certainly wasn’t the worst result in the world. We all knew that it was not going to be an easy fixture out in Russia, particularly when you factor in the state of the pitch. There was more good news too – Henrikh Mkhitaryan returned from injury.

The Armenia international had missed the last couple of games with an ongoing hamstring problem, and it was absolutely brilliant to see the man who makes us tick back on the field.

Not only that, he made a goalscoring return after some excellent work from Marouane Fellaini and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with the influential Swede playing Mkhitaryan in wonderfully.

After the game, the 27-year-old attacker took to Twitter to thank the fans for their support, as well as adding that a draw will suffice.

Check out Mkhitaryan’s tweet here:

We really are lucky to have such a wonderful footballer on our books. His absence in the games against AFC Bournemouth and Southampton was definitely felt – and thankfully he is back and playing again.

Chelsea away in the FA Cup is just on the horizon, so it was good for Mkhitaryan to get some minutes under his belt before that match. Hopefully, he’ll be able to continue his rich vein of form in that game and help us get a much-needed win.
