Thankfully, the wait is almost over. It has been close to two weeks since we’ve seen Manchester United take to the football field, due to the pain that is the international break. However, this weekend, the Red Devils will take on West Bromwich Albion at the Theatre of Dreams.
The game itself was never going to be easy as Tony Pulis’ sides are always supremely well organised, whilst being a threat at the other end. Our chances at victory have been hit even more by the sheer amount of players that’ll be missing for the game due to one reason or another.
Jose Mourinho gave an update to United’s official site, in which he confirmed that the club will be without five players. Ander Herrera and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as both suspended, whilst Phil Jones and Chris Smalling picked up injuries. The gaffer also added that Paul Pogba is missing, which is another real hammer blow.
“So we lose four [players] and I think Paul Pogba is also out,” said Mourinho to Manchester United’s official website. “So we lose five.”
Our manager must be absolutely berating the international break right about now, but that is football and it’s why you have large squads. It couldn’t have come at a worse time though, with April looking rather hectic in terms of a sheer volume of games.
We’re now down to just two centre-backs (Bailly & Rojo), and two midfielders (Carrick & Fellaini), so hopefully, these guys who are injured can get themselves back on the football pitch pretty quickly.
