Huge blow in Griezmann chase as Atletico Madrid chairman has his say

Manchester United Football Club will have high hopes for the summer transfer window, with Jose Mourinho looking to build on a solid debut season in which he helped his club win two major trophies. Now, we’re just a week away from the transfer period official opening.

One name who seems to keep cropping up is Antoine Griezmann. The 26-year-old Frenchman is making a real name for himself out in Spain, scoring goals for fun and doing what he can to try and break the Real Madrid and Barcelona grip on things out in the Spanish capital.

However, there have recently been strong rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United, but our hopes of signing one of the best in the world could have just been dashed by Atletico Madrid’s chairman; Enrique Cerezo.

“Griezmann will stay here. Not here at the Calderon, but at the Wanda (Atleti’s new stadium).” Cerezo told Marca, translated by Sky Sports News.

At the end of the day, nobody will know more about this situation than the man right at the top. Madrid’s chairman will be hoping for the Frenchman to stay at the club where he has plied his trade recently, but perhaps a lack of trophies could influence his decision.

This may well be a front from Cerezo and right now we do not really know, but judging by his words, he seems pretty sure that Griezmann will not be going anywhere anytime soon…
