In the early stages of Manchester United’s Premier League game against Swansea City, Luke Shaw had to be substituted off with an apparent injury. The 21-year-old didn’t even make it to the ten-minute mark before having to be hauled off – which must have been a bitter blow for the young man.
Now, according to the Daily Telegraph, Shaw is expected to miss the rest of Manchester United’s season because of this latest setback. As well as England’s World Cup qualifier against Scotland.
This latest foot problem has just summed up the Englishman’s season if we’re being honest. Time and time again niggling injuries have kept him out of the line-up. Whilst that must be hurting Shaw both mentally and physically, it must be rather annoying if you’re Jose Mourinho, too.
He’s a manager who requires footballers to be fit if they are to stand any chance of staying within his squad and that could well spell bad news for the left-back.
It’d be a shame to see him go but honestly, I wouldn’t be wholly surprised. You get the impression that the manager just doesn’t trust him fully, although I’m not quite sure why as he’s by far the best left-back we have on our books at the moment.
