Huge boost for Manchester United as injury for key man not as bad as first feared

Manchester United looked like being without yet another key man for a prolonged period of time, as Michael Carrick suffered a suspected achilles injury whilst playing for England on Friday night.

However, there has been some good news on that front, as according to the usually reliable Telegraph newspaper, the experienced midfielder could be back before the turn of the year as the injury is not as bad as initially thought.

It is expected that he will still miss the games against both Watford and PSV Eindhoven, but could be back before the end of this month, if not early on in December.

This is huge news as we enter the hectic winter schedule, without Carrick our midfield looks very thin, but with him back it means that Louis van Gaal has plenty of options and he can rotate the team where he sees fit.
