Manchester United Football Club had a tough time on the field yesterday, with one man in particular struggling. Paul Pogba gave away a daft penalty, and his head just wasn’t in the game. Maybe he was trying too hard, but he did have a supremely poor afternoon.
It was so unlike him, and a real shame because it was a perfect opportunity for Jose Mourinho and his players to send out a real message to the rest of the Premier League. That obviously didn’t happen, and Paul Pogba came in for some harsh, but probably fair criticism after the game.
“I find it baffling with Paul Pogba.” Ian Wright is quoted as saying by the Daily Express.
“He’s had this week with the hashtag, the haircut, the emoji. I don’t think that would happen under Sir Alex Ferguson.”
“I think it’s probably built into his contract.”
Well, I’m fairly certain that Paul Pogba would’ve had his haircut under Sir Alex Ferguson, but all joking aside, the emoji thing is a bit odd. As soon as you do stuff like that, you’re putting yourself under increased pressure to perform. Against Liverpool, the 23-year-old cracked, and you have to say he completely lost his head.
He looked lost in the middle of the park, and quite frankly, he’s lucky that the Red Devils managed to secure a late leveller because he would’ve come in for even more stick if United walked away empty handed.
