On transfer deadline day, Manchester United Football Club made a surprise move for Odion Ighalo. The Red Devils have needed a new striker since last summer, though an injury to Marcus Rashford jolted them into action.
In the end, the Old Trafford outfit settled on a short-term deal for the Nigerian, whose time at Watford was probably what Solskjaer looked at as the key factor before making the move.
We’re yet to see Ighalo in action wearing United colours, but he’s currently with his new teammates over in Marbella, taking part in a warm-weather training camp.
One thing is clear, though, Ighalo is doing all he can to make this work. According to the Daily Star, the striker has been doing double training sessions in his own time to get himself fit.
Furthermore, the 30-year-old is meeting with personal performance coach, Wayne Richardson, to devise a plan in an effort to get him in the best possible shape ahead of a debut against Chelsea next week.
Richardson has stated that the new United signing is going ‘above and beyond’ to make the most of his opportunity at the club he supported as a kid.
Honestly, I seriously think Ighalo is going to surprise our fanbase massively over the next few months. We’re talking about a boyhood United fan who is going to give everything to succeed here. The fact that he brings a different dimension will be a real breath of fresh air. Now, we finally have a target man…
