At the time, Manchester United’s short-term move for Odion Ighalo was somewhat underwhelming. The Red Devils’ loanee striker has hit the ground running, scoring four goals in three starts, surprising everyone in the process.
So-much-so that, we’ve covered a story in which it was claimed that United are now considering making his loan deal into a permanent one.
However, a spanner could have been thrown into the works by parent club Shanghai Shenhua. According to Sky Sports News, the 30-year-old United star has been offered a £400k-a-week deal, to extend his current contract which ends in 2022, to 2024.
Understandably, as of right now, his focus is on United. He is waiting for an offer from the Reds before making a final decision on his future.
It has been well documented that Ighalo is a boyhood United fan. He loves playing for that badge on his chest, however, who are we to have a go at the Nigerian if he chooses to take that absurd contract offer that’s on the table?
At the end of the day, he has to think about what’s best for him and his family. Right now, having such riches placed in front of him on the table must be super-tempting…
