Initial prognosis on Shaw injury doesn’t look good, better news on Martial: report

Manchester United Football Club had a day to forget at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Not only did the Red Devils lose, but two injuries were also picked up. Luke Shaw hobbled off with a hamstring problem while Anthony Martial seemed to be struggling late on.

According to The Times, United are ‘hopeful’ that the Frenchman’s injury isn’t serious, though the news on Shaw isn’t as positive…

Apparently, the initial prognosis on the 24-year-old’s injury ‘doesn’t look good’ with the player expecting to be out for at least a month, and it could stretch even further if the final tests are as bad as first feared.

The left-back just cannot catch an injury break at the moment and that’s a real shame. Just as he’s coming back and working his way to full fitness, another problem crops up and it’s becoming a major concern.

Shaw will miss games against Southampton, West Ham and Leicester City meaning a replacement is needed. Diogo Dalot is currently sidelined so Ashley Young is the most likely option. You do have Ethan Laird and Brandon Williams waiting in the wings, but they’re probably just too young at this point in time…

It’s a tough decision for Solskjaer and maybe the manager will be tempted to cut his losses and move on from Shaw if these injuries persist.
