Injury concern for strikers

After the 3-2 defeat to Yokohama Marinos today, David Moyes provided us with an injury update after we saw a couple of players struggling towards the end of the game. The boss admitted that both Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck are doubts for the next game, due to a thigh and a groin problem respectively.

This poses a problem as the duo are the only recognised strikers on tour. The only other viable option is to play Wilfried Zaha through the middle, as he has played up top for Palace in the past.

David Moyes said:

“We’ve got a couple of wee worries, Robin just felt his thigh in the first half and we didn’t want to take any chances.

“Danny Welbeck felt his groin when he came on and we’ve just got to make sure they’re all okay especially with so many games coming up. We’ve still got a few games to play before the season starts when we get back home.”

When you factor in the Rooney situation, this could potentially give us a problem up front. It all depends on how bad these injuries are.
