Manchester United Football Club are having a mixed season, though one thing that simply cannot be denied is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s trust in youth.
The Baby Faced Assassin has been willing to give academy products first-team minutes with regularity as he tries to get United back to their roots.
One man currently on the fringes of things is Tahith Chong. It’s tough to work out whether the Dutchman has what it takes to make it big at Old Trafford – though he did have an excellent pre-season.
Anyway today, the usually reliable Gianluca di Marzio ran a story in which it was claimed that European giant, Inter Milan, are interested in signing the 20-year-old United man.
With six months left on Chong’s deal, it does mean he’d be available for free in the summer, though I’d imagine they’ll be more than on offer on the table for the curly-head Dutchman.
Inter are certainly keen, with the club having already met with Chong’s agent – presumably to propose some initial terms and outline potential playing time etc.
I’m not so sure what to make of Chong. Before the turn of the year, we covered a story in which it was claimed that United were facing a losing battle to keep ahold of the Dutchman.
Honestly, if his heart isn’ in Manchester I’d let him go. There’s no point in bending over backwards for a player who isn’t fully committed to the cause. However, if he does want to be here, then I’m all for extending his contract.
