James Maddison is Man United’s prime attacking transfer target for the summer: report

Manchester United’s squad still has many holes. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has plugged a few, though there is much work ahead. This upcoming summer is going to be make or break for the Baby Faced Assassin. Let’s hope it’ the former.

Midfield is still the problem position. The Old Trafford club need seriously help when it comes to chance creation, with James Maddison’s name mentioned more often than most.

Anyway today, the Manchester Evening News ran a story outlining United’s ‘finalised’ playmaker targets amid all the Bruno Fernandes talk.

Donny van de Beek, Jack Grealish and Fernandes were all mentioned. However, the MEN state that United have made 23-year-old Maddison their ‘prime attacking target’ for the summer.

The Leicester City star symbolises United’s preference to add young, British talents to the squad – despite the fact that Maddison is considering signing a new contract with The Foxes.

There’s no doubt that Maddison would immediately make this team better. His creativity, vision, pace and shot would offer an extra dynamic.

However, it comes at a price. As we saw with the Harry Maguire deal, Leicester aren’t in a position where they need to sell – meaning they can demand astronomical fees.

Plus, whether we like it or not, Leicester are far better placed to secure Champions League football for next season. If that’s a factor for Maddison, he’d seriously consider staying with The Foxes for at least another campaign…
