Jamie Carragher makes bold Manchester United claim

Manchester United have been on the up under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, that much is obvious.

Jose Mourinho is a thing of the past, the Red Devils have rediscovered their identity. In ten games, United have won nine and drawn one. They’ve rapidly closed the gap on the top four and we’re looking far more confident as a team.

While a title challenge is probably beyond us this term, I wouldn’t bet against it going forward. However, according to Jamie Carragher, United’s current squad is better than title-topping Liverpool’s at the moment…

“I said yesterday Manchester United have a better squad than Liverpool. People may have thought it was a strange thing to say but I think we’re seeing little signs of it.” Carragher is quoted as saying by Squawka.

Personally, I think this is somewhat kneejerk. While I would love to agree with him, Liverpool’s squad is just better in pretty much every aspect. I’d give United the nod in the goalkeeper spot, but at this moment, that’s about it.

In terms of strength in depth then perhaps we’re winning in that sense. We’ve got backup options aplenty and we can cope with a few injuries, whereas Liverpool are struggling in that sense.

A lot will be revealed when the two sides meet at Old Trafford in just a few weeks. If we can win that game, while looking like the superior unit, then I’d start to take more note of what message Carragher is trying to get across…
