Manchester United’s latest star on the scene comes in the form of Jesse Lingard, who has been a huge success over the last few weeks due to his directness. As a result, he earned his first international call-up, and now he has claimed that he rejected Liverpool as a youngster.
“There was interest from Liverpool and I had to pick,” Lingard told MUTV.
“I was at a local club called Penketh United and Mike Glennie, a Manchester United scout, came to watch me. He spoke to my grandad and offered me trials.” The youngster added.
“I was only young, but obviously my heart was with United at the time.”
I didn’t think it was possible for the 22-year old to endear himself to the Manchester United fans any further, but this is one way to do it. There isn’t anything better watching a youngster come through the ranks and succeed at the club, and Lingard is a prime example of that at this point in time.
