Manchester United’s back-to-back home draws would have definitely been a real concern of Jose Mourinho’s, particularly as we’re now back down to sixth in the table. Next up, an away trip to Sunderland to take on David Moyes’ Black Cats.
Our injury situation is well documented right now, and it looked to have become worse when Ashley Young was subbed off against Everton on Tuesday. Now, the self-proclaimed Special One has confirmed that the Englishman is actually injured, and he’ll be unavailable for the game this weekend.
On top of that, there is no more news regarding Juan Mata, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones. Wayne Rooney is also ‘not available’, whatever that means…
“Wayne Rooney is not available and Ashley Young is injured,” confirmed Mourinho, according to Manchester United’s official website.
“[There is] no more news, because [with] Mata, Smalling and Jones you already know that we are speaking about old injuries.”
This really is worrying, especially given the fact that the Europa League kicks off again next midweek. The games are piling up for Manchester United, as our the injuries. I just hope Young’s problem isn’t serious, because he’s turned into a real reliable guy for Mourinho and he’s been performing really well.
Credit has to go to the veteran. He wasn’t really in the thoughts of the manager for the first half of the season, but he’s kept working hard and forced his way in, whilst changing his game into a more defensive-minded style.
