Manchester United Football Club have been on a decent run lately, with Jose Mourinho’s side playing some pretty decent stuff. That said, the January transfer window has been more of a selling one for Manchester United, with both Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay leaving.
Mourinho met the press ahead of United’s clash against Hull City tomorrow, and he has now confirmed that no further business will happen this window – meaning we’ll see no deals on deadline day.
“Young is definitely staying,” Jose is quoted as saying by ManUtd.com. “He is selected for tomorrow. He stays with me until the end of the season.”
“We don’t have players coming in or going out, we lost two players from the squad. You can say Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin didn’t play a lot but the reality is they played some matches. When they played, other people didn’t and rested.”
Well, that’s all the rumours put completely to bed, and it comes right from the source. Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester United will not be involved in any transfer business from now until the 23:00 GMT, neither in or out.
This tells us that he must be rather happy with the current squad available at his disposal, either that, or he just couldn’t find players who were willing to switch to the Theatre of Dreams in the middle of the season.
You wouldn’t be wholly surprised if Jose never really had any plans to bring in new players at this point in time, because it makes more sense to stick with what you have now and strengthen heavily over the summer.
Now attentions will focus firmly on the task at hand, and that’s playing games across four different competitions from now until the end of the season. Hopefully, come May we’re celebrating a trophy and a top four finish at the very least.
