Jose Mourinho confirms which Manchester United stars will start against Hull in the cup

Manchester United Football Club took on Reading FC in the third round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford this afternoon, and Jose Mourinho’s men ensured supremely safe progression into the hat with an easy 4-0 victory over The Royals. However, there will certainly be tougher tasks to come…

Next up for the Red Devils is a game against Hull City in the semi-final of the EFL Cup, and the self-proclaimed Special One has confirmed that some of his key stars will return to the starting eleven after being rested.

“I will play with the players that did not play against Reading,” Jose Mourinho is quoted as telling reporters by Goal.com.

“I played with fresh players on Saturday. I do not want to say anything about first choice or second choice but we played with fresh players, the players who did not play against West Ham.”

“In the next match against Hull City we are going to play again with fresh players. So it is easy to know our team, Zlatan, Pogba, [Ander] Herrera, [Antonio] Valencia. The guys that did not play on Saturday.”

It’s always tough to select players, particularly around this hectic period of the season where games come thick and fast. Let’s not forget that immediately after Hull, Manchester United take on Liverpool at home in a real important league clash.

On paper, though, you’d say Jose got it pretty spot on with resting the likes of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ander Herrera against Reading. They’ll now be feeling all the better for it, and fit and firing to go again.

Hopefully, the injury to Marcos Rojo isn’t all that serious either and he can be involved, because the partnership he had been forming with Phil Jones was really starting to grow and develop.
