Ander Herrera was without a doubt one of Manchester United’s top performers last term. The Basque-born midfielder was outstanding for the majority of the campaign, and now, Jose Mourinho has declared that the 27-year-old is not for sale at any price. That’s according to Spanish media outlet, Marca.
Recent reports have linked FC Barcelona with a potential move to sign the fan-favourite, but to hear the news that Jose Mourinho has declared him non-transferable is great.
I think it’s a fair comment to say that Herrera has turned into the heartbeat of our midfield over the last couple of years. His energy, passion and on-field leadership has been a breath of fresh air to watch, and the way he plays with his heart on his sleeve is one of the reasons why the fans love him so much.
It says a lot about his love for the club that he is willing to turn down FC Barcelona to remain a Red Devil. The Catalan side are way ahead of us right now, and to be brutally honest, you couldn’t blame him if he did want to leave.
Anyway, this next season is huge for him. With it being Mourinho’s second season in charge, the club as a whole will be looking to challenge for the title – and the Premier League is a piece of silverware that Herrera is yet to win.
