Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move to bring in Ivan Perisic this summer, with Jose Mourinho clearly keen on adding another attacker to the squad. The 28-year-old, in my opinion, would bring another dimension to the team if the signing were completed.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, the Red Devils took on MLS Western Conference side, Real Salt Lake. Afterwards, the gaffer met the media and amongst the topic of conversation was the possibility of signing the aforementioned Croatia star.
After the Real Salt Lake win, the manager was directly asked about the possibility of signing Perisic, and he responded:
“No idea,” as per the Manchester Evening News.
It seems as though the self-proclaimed Special One is taking the tight-lipped approach here, but it comes as no secret that our interest in him seems genuine.
If we weren’t all that keen on signing him, Mourinho would have come out and straight up denied the rumours, but the fact that he says he has ‘no idea’ indicates to me that something is happening behind the scenes.
He’s a great crosser of the ball, is very skilful and he’ll certainly excite the Old Trafford crowd. At 28, he’d bring in plenty of experience and technical knowledge, and I can certainly see why Mourinho likes him.
