Manchester United got the better of Blackburn Rovers yesterday, with Jose Mourinho’s side overcoming an early deficit to progress to the quarter-finals; where they’ll take on Chelsea. After the game, Jose was in a wonderful mood as you’d expect.
The gaffer discussed a variety of topics, but he did send his apologies to the travelling reds who flock up and down the country every other weekend in the Premier League – because they don’t get as many away tickets in that competition, whereas they get a buffed amount in the FA Cup.
Mourinho told BT Sport, as quoted by the Daily Star: “I would like to say amazing fans. Absolutely amazing.”
“So sorry that in the Premier League they don’t have so many tickets for away matches.”
It is a real shame that the Red Devils don’t get those FA Cup allocations in the league, because they’d be able to sell that many tickets all the time. There were approximately 7,000 fans filling up one single stand against Blackburn Rovers, and they made huge noise throughout. Imagine that for every league game, the fans would certainly carry us home.
The most important thing on the day was progressing into the next round, but the draw definitely hasn’t been kind to us. Chelsea away at Stamford Bridge is probably the worst possible scenario right now, and we’ll have to be at our best.
