Manchester United are playing some lovely stuff right now, with Jose Mourinho seemingly finding the formula to make his players tick. Things are looking great on the field, and we’re still fighting it out on four fronts for different trophies – hence plenty of our squad are getting regular chances.
However, one man who is yet to get a real opportunity under the self-proclaimed Special One is Luke Shaw. The English left-back has struggled to impose his game on the boss this season, despite the fact that I believe he is the most talented left-sided defender we have in the squad.
Now, Jose Mourinho has answered several questions ahead of the game against Saint-Etienne, and one of the questions on everybody’s lips was just why Luke Shaw hasn’t been playing.
“Because I am playing with Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo, Darmian.” The Metro quote the Manchester United manager as saying.
“They are playing the way I like a full back to play and Luke has to wait for his chance knowing I give nothing for free.”
“When I give something to the players it is not cheap, it is expensive.”
Whilst it is a shame that the former Southampton man hasn’t featured, you have to trust Jose’s decision. At the end of the day, I don’t think there is a better man-manager in the business, just look at how well he has handled both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial this season.
I’ve no doubts that Shaw, who is still only 21 by the way, will prove his worth before the end of the season. Next year, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him become one of the first names on the team sheet.
