Manchester United have sealed a deal for Paul Pogba, with Jose Mourinho a huge factor in luring the 23-year-old back to the Theatre of Dreams. The fee is a new world record of £89million, and in an recent interview, Jose Mourinho wasn’t afraid to take a swipe at some rivals before things get underway this weekend.
He responded directly to digs made at Manchester United’s move for Pogba last week, when both Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp piped up and had something to say on the matter.
“When I heard some of the comments and heard some of the managers criticising that, I don’t think they ever have this problem.” Mourinho said. “Because, to have this problem, you need to be at one of the top clubs in the world. So at Manchester United it can happen.”
This is what Jose Mourinho does so well. He always deflects the attention off of his players and straight on himself, meaning the footballers can get on with playing.
At the end of the day, all these words and verbal jousts between the managers mean nothing at this point in time. It’s all about what happens come May, and I firmly believe that Jose Mourinho’s will be right up there when it matters most.
