Jose Mourinho could be on a collision course with Manchester United’s chairman, Edward Woodward. That’s according to the usually reliable Duncan Castles, in his column for Yahoo Sports.
The English journalist is claiming that the self-proclaimed Special One has been left furious at Manchester United’s slow progress in what he considers to be a crucial transfer window.
Mourinho apparently requested that all of our summer signings be completed before pre-season tour starts, which gets underway in just under one weeks time. At this point, we have added only Victor Lindelof.
In comparison to last summer, the Red Devils had already completed three major signings in the form of Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan – so you can totally understand the frustrations from the boss.
To add to the anger, Mourinho was left bemused when Edward Woodward was following the British and Irish Lions touring New Zealand, rather than getting stuff done for Manchester United.
When it comes to identifying problems within a squad, there aren’t any better than Mourinho. However, it must be so frustrating for him when we’re taking so long to get our deals over the line. At this moment, it doesn’t feel as though we’re any closer to announcing any new names, and right now, I would be surprised if the club can push over any more new signings before the tour starts on Sunday.
