Jose Mourinho hints out at possibility of handing debut to youngster in upcoming fixtures

Manchester United’s  squad has been used to his maximum over recent weeks, with Jose Mourinho’s men having to fight it out across four different competitions. Now, the manager has hinted at the possibility of handing a debut to another talented academy prospect.

The man in question is centre-back Axel Tuanzebe. The 19-year-old is highly thought of at Old Trafford by all coaches, and that’s backed up by the fact that he won the Jimmy Murphy Player of the Year award last campaign.

Jose Mourinho was asked about whether Tuanzebe could feature in the upcoming fixtures, and the self-proclaimed Special One believes he can.

“He can,” Jose told ManUtd.com. “We lost Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay, two players who didn’t play many minutes or many matches for us. They were two players from the squad, so we need numbers and probably Axel is one of the boys that’s in the Academy who is more close to playing with us.”

“So we have brought him up to give him more experience, to make the first team more natural for him in case we need him to play in the upcoming matches and month, so he can be more adapted to us.”

This must be such a massive confidence booster for the young man. He has been playing at a high level for quite some time now, and I myself have been calling for him to get his chance to impress in perhaps a cup game against lower league opposition.

Jose highlighted the fact that he has been training with the first-team recently, which is obviously a brilliant bit of experience for him, and I have no doubts that he’ll learn a lot from his more experienced peers like Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.

There is nothing like that experience of a match though, and he definitely needs that; be it here at Old Trafford, or on loan elsewhere.
