Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has held talks with Marko Arnautovic’s representatives.
That’s according to Austrian outlet, Osterreich, translated by The Metro. Apparently, the self-proclaimed Special One has been sharing text messages with Marko’s brother, and agent, Danijel.
Arnautovic has been linked with a £50million Old Trafford move, in a signing that would be absolutely typical from Mourinho.
Our manager loves the ready-made player, with the 29-year-old from Austria exactly that. He enjoyed an excellent season with West Ham in 2017/18, and no doubt he’ll be setting his sights on one final big-money career move.
The Red Devils have been crying out for someone they can rely on in the right-winger role. Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard have been utilised there, but the pair are both miles better through the middle. Although inconsistent, Arnautovic would certainly be a much more reliable option.
Personally, though, I wouldn’t be a huge fan of spending £50million on a player vastly approaching his thirties. The deal would make much more sense if he were a few years younger, particularly as he probably isn’t going to start every single week. I’d much prefer to see United go for a younger option; or someone with big-club experience like Chelsea’s Willian.
