Jose Mourinho interested in signing another defender despite Bailly addition

United have already added Eric Bailly into the squad for the upcoming season, with Jose Mourinho clearly thinking the team needs work in the defensive third of the pitch. It doesn’t look like he is done there though, as he wants to add another centre-half.

That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who say that the £45million rated John Stones will still move away from Goodison Park this summer, despite Ronald Koeman’s appointment.

They add that the frontrunners for his signature are Manchester United and Manchester City, and Mourinho’s interest in the Englishman is well documented as he tried to sign him whilst in charge of Chelsea.

Everton will clearly be doing all they can to keep hold of Stones, but if any club offers a fee big enough, then they could be tempted into parting with the former Barnsley man.

The 22-year-old is currently out in France representing his country, so you’d imagine the ball won’t get rolling until he returns from there.
