Manchester United Football Club suffered a humbling defeat at the hands of Fenerbahce this evening, as Jose’s men lost 2-1 in poor style. Once again, an early goal conceded was the absolute killer and it left the lads in a hole with less than two minutes on the clock.
After the match, Jose Mourinho was absolutely critical of every single one of the players on display and rightly so. He even compared the match as if Fenerbahce were playing in a final, whereas our players acted as though it was a friendly – which tells you everything you need to know.
“Our problems started in our attitude,” he said.
“They were playing the Champions League final and we were playing a summer friendly.”
“That is the reality of the way the game started.”
“We had moments of reaction but it is difficult for us to play a game of this difficulty with two left backs playing at centre-back.”
You cannot really blame him for this outburst either. It really did feel like that every single one of those players weren’t all that bothered about losing that game and the fact that they showed no fight, bottle or any mental strength really summed everything up.
It goes to show just how much of a massive job that Jose Mourinho has on his hands at the moment, and it will take a lot of time for him to make the Theatre of Dreams a happy place once again.
