Manchester United take on West Bromwich Albion tomorrow, in a game that Jose Mourinho’s men desperately need to win to continue their rise up the table. Today, the manager met the media of the world to discuss all things about the upcoming game – but high on the list of priorities was injuries.
On that front the manager certainly gave us some mixed news, particularly in the case of Eric Bailly who isn’t available. However, Chris Smalling is back from injury and is now ready to be selected again.
“He can’t be in this game but it doesn’t look as serious as we first thought,” Jose Mourinho told MUTV. “Normally we hope to have him back for Christmas period. Smalling is coming back for this game.”
Thankfully it doesn’t look as though Bailly’s injury will keep him out for too long which is huge news. Although Jose didn’t give us an exact date as to when to expect him back, perhaps the Boxing Day game against Sunderland is an estimate.
To have Chris Smalling back is massive. Although Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones are both on fire at the moment, another option during this hectic period is essential.
Jose Mourinho also told reporters that Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Luke Shaw are both still missing for this one, but didn’t offer an update on when to expect them to return.
