After losing their last outing away at Brighton & Hove Albion, the Red Devils will be hoping for every minor boost that comes their way.

Mourinho was in a toying mood, as he arrived 30 minutes premature for his press conference, but the manager did hint that at least one or two players could make a comeback, while also adding that Diogo Dalot is now back in first-team training.

Asked if Alexis Sanchez, Nemanja Matic or Antonio Valencia have recovered from injury in time, the manager replied:

I don’t know because today is still Friday and we are training on Saturday and Sunday, and the match is on Monday. Mourinho is quoted as saying by ManUtd.com.

Decisions to be made on Sunday but yes, they are training with the team. Dalot is also training with the team for the first time this week, so in terms of the medical department, they are almost free.”

I think Valencia is the key one. The right-back had absolutely no pre-season after picking up an injury early on during the tour. He’s by far our best right-sided defender, as the man from Ecuador would add something on both sides of the ball.

Matic is vital, too. Although Pereira did well against Leicester, that inconsistency of youth showed versus Brighton. It’d be too much pressure to expect the young Brazilian to start every week, never mind perform.

As for Dalot. Who knows what we’re going to get? The ability is obviously there, it’s just down to how quickly he can adapt and adjust to the Premier League game; which isn’t going to be easy, particularly given the fact that he’s just nineteen.
