During the international break, you’d expect Jose Mourinho to be enjoying some down-time and preparing for the hectic month of October. However, that seemingly wasn’t the case.
According to the Dailly Mirror, per the Manchester Evening News, the self-proclaimed Special One was busy scouting players. Apparently, United’s manager was in attendance watching Austria beat Serbia last week, keeping tabs on Mijat Gacinovic.
The 22-year-old midfielder plies his trade for Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga and is also an international teammate of Nemanja Matic.
Gacinovic is an attack-minded midfielder, who has become an integral part of the setup for Eintracht Frankfurt. Last season, he played 34 times for his club; which led to a breakthrough on the international stage.
At this point in time, there is no concrete information as to whether the Red Devils will make a bid for the Serb when the transfer window opens, but I like the fact that the manager is weighing up moves for younger players – because, usually, Mourinho normally lives for the here and now.
Will this deal happen? Who knows, it’s too soon to say and a simple scouting trip doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Mourinho will probably undertake plenty more scouting missions before making a final decision on who he wants to bring in.
