Manchester United are planning a summer move for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, while using Matteo Darmian to sweeten the deal with the Serie A side. That’s according to The Mirror, per The Sun.
The report says that Darmian has been deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, and clearly, Jose Mourinho is after signing a new left-back, although Ashley Young was extremely impressive against Liverpool on Sunday.
Don’t forget that the Red Devils also have Luke Shaw on their books, but for whatever reason, Mourinho just doesn’t trust the former Southampton man. I’d probably put it down to numerous injuries, but he certainly looked rather weighty when he came on against Crystal Palace…
Sandro joined Juventus back in 2015 and he’s been sensational for them. The Brazilian is now their first-choice player, putting in some brilliant performances on both sides of the ball. I’d genuinely love to see him at the Theatre of Dreams, because it’d finally bring some consistency to the left-back slot and I feel that’s what we need at this point in time.
It also makes sense to move Darmian on. He’s an average defender but nothing more than that, and if it means United can land Sandro for cheaper, then it’s the ideal transfer for pretty much everyone involved.
