Manchester United Football Club takes on Liverpool, in what is, without doubt, the Red Devils’ most important game of the season so far.
Ahead of the heavyweight clash, the manager has been speaking to the media.
Amongst the topic of conversation was the current injury situation at Old Trafford. This is always a touchy subject, particularly following a two-week international break where players always seem to come back with one problem or another.
Jose Mourinho confirmed that Romelu Lukaku will be fit to play, but there is bad news regarding Michael Carrick, who’ll miss the game.
“Michael Carrick? I know he cannot play, I know that. Lukaku looks fine and that’s it.” Jose Mourinho told reporters, including ManUtd.com.
Carrick joins both Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba on the sidelines, and our midfield is looking dangerously thin. Spare a thought for Andreas Pereira right now, because this could have been the opportunity his talent deserves…
Ander Herrera is more than capable of playing to a high level, and undoubtedly the Basque-born midfielder will start alongside Nemanja Matic in the middle. Hopefully, they’ve got what it takes to win this key battle.
Anyway, I’m thrilled that Lukaku is fit. Obviously, he’s been our key man at the start of this season and Anfield provides him with the perfect platform to show the world that he can find the back of the net in the so-called ‘bigger games’.
