Well, folks, FA Cup final day is here. Manchester United will be hoping to end the season on a high, with the Red Devils trying to lift the trophy for the thirteenth time in their history.
The game itself is obviously going to be an immensely difficult one. Chelsea, like United, have been a real mixed bag this term and it’s certainly going to be an interesting battle.
Before the match, Jose Mourinho has met the media to give us the all-important team news. While he confirmed that Anthony Martial is fit, he’s still sweating in regards to Romelu Lukaku’s fitness.
“Martial is fit and Lukaku we have to wait until the last moment. I don’t want to lie to you and say he doesn’t play and then he plays or vice versa, so Lukaku we have to wait.” Mourinho told ManUtd.com.
The striker has been out with an ankle injury over the last few weeks and his absence has been pretty clear for all to see. To lose him for our most important game of the season would be a massive shame, while also being cruelly unfair on the player himself.
Earlier on in the week, it felt like we’d received some positive news on Lukaku, but this latest update is certainly concerning.
His 27-goal haul would be difficult to replace. The aforementioned Martial, along with Marcus Rashford, haven’t been all that convincing in Lukaku’s absence, and if the Belgium striker doesn’t start, I’d have my doubts about United’s ability to win this game.
