Jose Mourinho reacts to Paul Pogba’s red card against Arsenal

Manchester United Football Club picked up a huge three points against Arsenal on Saturday evening. Jose Mourinho set his side up perfectly, and my, his players delivered.

The Red Devils were 2-0 up inside ten minutes thanks to some excellent play from the likes of Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard, capitalising on a couple of mistakes from Arsenal’s shaky defence.

United finished the game in the second half when Lingard tucked home from a couple of yards out following a piece of brilliance from Paul Pogba.

However, the game was not over. Pogba got himself sent off after going in hard on a tackle with Hector Bellerin. Following the game, Mourinho had his say on the situation, and it’s clear that the gaffer feels the red card was completely unintentional.

I just know Paul is frustrated and a bit disappointed with his colleague [Laurent] Koscielny for his reaction,” said Jose Mourinho, per the official United website.

“But Paul was very frustrated. Everybody knows he is a clean player and it was not his intention, not at all, to be close to a red card. I’ve not seen a TV replay so I don’t know.”

It’s a tough one for the referee. It looks like one of those freak accidents, but as soon as your studs go through the leg of another player, you’re in trouble. Unfortunately for Pogba, I feel like the correct decision was made and it’ll be tough for the FA to overturn that card if United do indeed appeal.

It now creates a huge gaping hole in our midfield for when Manchester City come to Old Trafford next week.
