Jose Mourinho is ready to break the bank as he looks to sign Real Madrid ace, Marco Asensio. That’s according to Spanish publication Don Balon, translated by the Daily Express.
Apparently, the Red Devils are ready to spend a huge £176million to land the immensely talented attacking midfielder, with Cristiano aware that a bid from his former employers could well be on the horizon.
After failing to nail down a regular spot within the starting eleven, Asensio could certainly be up for grabs if the price is right in my opinion. However, the ball is firmly in Real Madrid’s court, with the player under contract until 2023.
I’d love to see Asensio in Manchester United red. He’s a brilliantly gifted footballer who flourishes in the #10 role, however, I just don’t see the move happening. Why on earth would Madrid part with their future star? Heck, why would the player want to leave?
Ronaldo is ageing, Bale is always injured and Isco just cannot nail down his place in the team either. An opening for Asensio is just around the corner, and I’d be extremely surprised if the youngster made the move to Old Trafford over the summer.
