Jose Mourinho ready to make goalkeeper changes at Manchester United

Manchester United Football Club has plenty of quality at their disposal at the moment, and one area that the side have one of the best players in the world in is the goalkeeper position. David de Gea has the #1 jersey on lockdown, but his backups are still jostling for position and fighting for their place.

At the moment, Sam Johnstone is still at Old Trafford, but Jose Mourinho has already confirmed the talented Englishman will be allowed to leave the club on loan in order to gain some regular first-team football.

That means the club will need a new third choice goalkeeper, and the Portuguese media outlet O Jogo wrote yesterday that the supremely talented Joel Pereira will be recalled from his loan spell at Belenenses, after making a handful of appearances for the Primera Liga side this campaign.

Alright, the likelihood is that Pereira will probably just remain the third choice for the rest of the current campaign, but it gives time for Jose Mourinho’s coaching staff to work with him and improve his game on the training pitch.

Who knows, he could well get some minutes on the field in the cup competitions if the right opponent is pulled out of the hat. On top of that, we all know just how unpredictable injuries can be so he’ll have to be ready.
