Manchester United Football Club are having an excellent time of things at the moment, all things considered. The Red Devils are particularly looking supremely solid on the defensive side of things, which has always been an integral part of any Jose Mourinho team.
The manager decided to bring in Eric Bailly over the summer to bolster that defence, but one of his key figures would come in the surprising form of Marcos Rojo.
The man from Argentina had a pretty torrid time under Louis van Gaal, but he really has emerged as one of our key players this term, and all credit to him for continuing to work hard.
Now, The Sun say that Jose Mourinho is ready to sit down with Marcos Rojo at the end of the season – to discuss the possibility of extending his contract. The 27-year-old from La Plata still has two-years left on his current deal at the Theatre of Dreams, but if Jose wants to add to that already, then it tells you all you need to know about how well he has been playing.
He just fits into a Mourinho side perfectly. Rojo is an aggressive, no-nonsense defender who absolutely loves a physical battle – just look at how well he dealt with Diego Costa in that tough FA Cup clash last week.
I’m all for a new contract for Marcos Rojo. He has definitely outperformed both Phil Jones and Chris Smalling in my eyes, and alongside the aforementioned Eric Bailly, this is the best partnership we have right now.
