Manchester United Football Club have been rotating their squad quite a lot lately, and that’s down to the fact that the Red Devils are still fighting it out in four competitions. It’s key that the big stars are given the opportunity to recharge their batteries, and that was the case against Blackburn yesterday.
One player who I personally thought would start was Luke Shaw, but the young left-back was given a spot on the bench, with Matteo Darmian starting in his place. However, that didn’t stop reporters questioning whether the defender will still be a red next campaign.
The manager was asked about the possibility of selling Luke Shaw in the short-term, however, the boss responded in a defiant manner, suggesting the Englishman will be here for a while yet.
“No, no. He will be for sure. That is out of the question.” Jose Mourinho is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
“Because he is still only a young player and sometimes people forget he is only a young player with a lot to learn. But I like the player and I like the boy.”
This must be a huge reassurance for 21-year-old Shaw, who has missed the majority of the last eighteen months due to various injury concerns. He is back fit now, though, and I’ve no doubts that Jose will give him a chance to prove his worth.
Shaw just needs to look at how excellently the self-proclaimed Special One has dealt with both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial, and the former Southampton man should be looking to follow suit.
