Jose Mourinho says star will be out for a while after ‘really bad’ injury

Manchester United’s squad has already jetted off to Turkey to take on Fenerbahce in the capital Istanbul tomorrow evening. The game itself will be tough, and those fans will make it even harder for the lads to communicate on the field. Ahead of the game, we’ve been handed a massive injury blow…

Jose will have to cope without the services of Antonio Valencia, who has had to undergo surgery on his arm, and the manager has confirmed ‘he’ll be out for a while’ which is a massive shame.

The Ecuador international has been in a rich vein of form under new management, and to lose him for what looks like the rest of the year is massive.

It does provide a huge opportunity for Matteo Darmian to come back into the side, grow in confidence and cement his own stamp on that right-back slot. We witnessed just how capable he can be at times under Louis van Gaal, and if he can rediscover that form, it won’t be an easy task for Valencia to displace him.
