Sadly, last night is the last we’ll see of our Manchester United heroes for at least a couple of months. Jose Mourinho and his players ended the campaign on a high, by winning the Europa League trophy and earning a place in the Champions League as a result.
Now comes the tedious transfer window period, where as per usual, United will continue to be linked with every single name under the sun. It’s the time of year that us fans hate because it’s tough to work out who is telling the truth and who is making stuff up just for a few clicks.
Anyway, after the 2-0 victory over Ajax, the Manchester United boss was asked about his transfer plans. Mourinho confirmed that Edward Woodward has had his transfer list for at least a couple of months, before sternly adding ‘it is up to him and the owners’ to go and get things done.
“Ed Woodward has my list, what I want, what I would like for more than two months,” he told BT Sport, as per The Independent. “So now it’s up to him and the owners. But I don’t care about football for now.”
First and foremost, it is worth pointing out that having Champions League football on the table can only help our cause when it comes to attracting those elite players.
We’re now on a level playing field with the rest of the Premier League’s big boys again, and with Jose Mourinho at the helm it feels like literally signing anyone is possible.
It will definitely be an exciting time to see who exactly we target. On top of that, we have to remember that some players will be allowed to leave. The gaffer has had a season to keep an eye on the players he was unsure about, and I’m certain that his mind will be made up as he prepares for some time off.
