Jose Mourinho to miss Manchester United’s game against West Ham due to ban

Manchester United take on West Ham United for the second time in the space of four days, in just over two hours time. This meeting between the sides will be an EFL Cup quarter-final clash, but Jose Mourinho will be watching this one from the stands, and Rui Faria will be in the dugout.

That’s what Sky Sports News say, after Mourinho accepted the FA’s charge of improper conduct. The self-proclaimed Special One was sent off on Sunday after kicking a bottle down the touchline due to Paul Pogba picking up a yellow card.

Jose Mourinho has also been handed a £16,000 fine, which won’t really hurt his wallet too much given the salary he is on at Manchester United.

His presence will be missing tonight, though, which is a huge loss, and hopefully, his assistant Faria can keep the players motivated from first minute right until the last.

Progression through to the semi-final of the EFL Trophy would be a massive confidence booster for the players and the coaching staff going forward – particularly after a bad run of form at Old Trafford.
