Jose says that Paul Pogba’s mum wants Manchester United to draw with Saint-Etienne

Manchester United Football Club resume their Europa League campaign tomorrow night, as they host Saint-Etienne in the round of thirty-two. The two-legged tie certainly will not be easy, but it has that extra significance for the Pogba family.

The French midfielder will take on his brother Florentin, for the first time in their professional careers. Florentin is the older brother of Paul, who plays as a central defender for the side who currently sit in fifth place in Ligue 1.

Before the game, Jose Mourinho has been speaking about the special occasion for both Paul and his sibling, and admitted that Mrs Pogba would like the game to end in a draw.

The manager then confirmed that he has been speaking with Paul Pogba about the situation.

“We spoke but in a good way, in a funny way,” Jose Mourinho told ManUtd.com.

“I think it’s a nice destiny. I think only Mum Pogba is in a little bit of trouble, which is normal. It’s difficult for the lady to choose. It’s not difficult, it’s impossible for her to choose. I know from Paul that the mum wants a draw but next week one son will be happy and another one will be sad.”

“There’s only a little bit of a problem for the mum. For them, they will enjoy it, they will enjoy to play against each other. Paul is excited and Florentin for sure is the same. I think it’s a good thing.”

It must be such a proud, but somewhat awkward moment for the whole family. The brothers will undoubtedly relish their time on the pitch together, but for their parents it must be absolute agony.

At the end of the day, one of them will be happy and the other sad, but that’s football. She’ll have to play the middle-man, and will obviously have mixed emotions regarding the matches.

As a Manchester United fan, I’m confident that Paul will eventually be the one celebrating, but it won’t be as easy as people think. Saint-Etienne are a well organised side that’ll pose a serious threat. Hopefully, the Red Devils can come through and get a positive result.
