Manchester United’s rich history and traditions were certainly carried on by Jose Mourinho yesterday. The self-proclaimed Special One handed out debuts galore, as we have one eye on our Europa League final coupled with the fact that there was nothing left for us to play for domestically.
One of the lucky debutants was young Josh Harrop; a striker who has come through the ranks at Old Trafford, scoring goals galore for our youth teams.
The 21-year-old was more than worthy of his chance, and what an outstanding performance he put in. From minute one he was linking up brilliantly with Demi Mitchell down that left side, and you could tell he was going to be a threat.
Then came the moment of the match. Paul Pogba played a lovely pass with the outside of the boot into Harrop, who was clearly trying to cut inside and get on his right-foot. Eventually, he managed to create a bit of space for himself before launching an absolute rocket of a shot into the far corner.
What a proud day it must have been for him and his family, and to celebrate that day with the Old Trafford faithful must have been what he has always dreamed about.
The dust has settled now, and Harrop took to Twitter to send a brilliant message to his adoring fans. He posted four photos, as well as making it clear that he hopes this is the first appearance of many in our famous red jersey.
